RemainSafe’s largest standard underground safety shelter is our 6×8 In-Ground Exterior Storm Shelter. This engineer stamped and FEMA Compliant storm shelter is installed directly outside your house for easy access when you need it.

The 6×8 In-Ground Exterior Storm Shelter has an excellent and user friendly design. It’s perfect for homeowners who don’t have a garage or carport, as well as families needing a shelter with more space to protect their loved ones.

Our flush exterior storm shelters are designed to be installed on flat ground and are completely underground except the top of the door and air vent. This means this shelter does not protrude out of the ground.

Underground Exterior Flush Shelters

This model is very spacious and roomy with steps that have handrails, non-slip grip, and very wide easy access. Another key point is the install process for our 6×8 In-Ground Storm Shelter has seating on three sides.

All of our shelter models and styles have been tested to meet or exceed FEMA 320/361 and ICC-500 criteria through the Wind and Debris Laboratory at Texas Tech University.

This safety shelter is a hardened structure specifically designed to meet the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) criteria and provide near-absolute protection in extreme weather events, including tornadoes and hurricanes.

Near-absolute protection means that based on our current knowledge of tornadoes and hurricanes, the occupants of a safe room built in accordance with FEMA guidance, will have a very high probability of being protected from injury or death.

  • The ensure against moisture penetration, all welds are dye tested inside and out and the entire exterior of the shelter is coated with a hand applied, 2 part epoxy/tar blend
