RemainSafe Awarded Contract with the Tuscaloosa Sheriff Department
RemainSafe announces recent contract for two 14 feet by 42 feet commercial shelters
Decatur, AL (November 21, 2022) – Manufacturer of FEMA Compliant storm and safety shelters, RemainSafe was recently awarded a contract with the Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office (TCSOAL) for two 14 feet wide and 42 feet long commercial shelters. RemainSafe commercial shelters will further enhance the protection and safety of the Tuscaloosa County Jail law enforcement staff and inmates as facilities undergo reconstruction.
In August 2022, the Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office began seeking bids for portable storm shelters equipped to house both men and women inmates during prison reconstruction. The shelters will be available, should inclement weather arise. RemainSafe was selected for this project during the bid process.
Accommodating up to 117 persons in each unit, RemainSafe’s two 42 feet long, 14 feet wide and 8 feet high commercial shelters exceed Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office safety and emergency needs while surpassing FEMA requirements and ICC-500 criteria. Units are built with one-fourth thick steel outer plate throughout the entire structure. Each shelter features: AR-500 rated exterior walls that are designed to withstand firearms, entry and egress doors with keypad entry, natural ventilation, trauma kit, fire extinguisher, LED lighting, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, front-to-back benches and are Americans With Disability Act compliant.
“The Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office has been a pleasure to work with throughout the rigorous bid process. RemainSafe is thrilled to have been awarded this contract and selected to work alongside the Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office as they put their trust and confidence in RemainSafe’s FEMA-compliant products,” said Andy Smith, CEO of RemainSafe.
The existing Metro Jail is scheduled to begin renovations at the beginning of 2023. The older section of the jail will be demolished in order to expand the facility to accommodate a medical and psychiatric division. As Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office continues to implement command and organizational changes, RemainSafe is honored to be selected to partner with the Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office and supply commercial storm safety shelters to ensure the safety, security and confidence needed during facility renovations.
Founded more than 15 years ago, RemainSafe is a storm and safety shelter manufacturer located in Decatur, AL dedicated to ensuring emergency preparedness. RemainSafe has developed into a nationwide manufacturer of commercial, community and residential storm shelters.
